Teens and Adults Psychotherapy in San Francisco
What is Expressive Arts Therapy?
EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY utilizes various methods of art as a form of therapy. However, it is not an "art class" where you focus on producing a finished piece or form. It is focused on mindfulness ("here and now") and what/how you express your thoughts and feelings through creative medium. This includes visual arts, body-movement, psychodrama, music and creative writing, just to name a few. Expressive Arts Therapy is a great way to explore self-expression, personal growth, therapeutic change, group process and team building. It is particularly effective for children, teens, and adult individuals with anxiety and/or trauma history who are not accustomed to verbal expression and seeking less intrusive way to explore insights, and subconsciousness. This process could be very therapeutic and eye-opening to the participants.
